Q. My application was returned with a request for change(s). What do I do?

My application was returned with a request for change(s). What do I do?
If you have received an email from PaymentWorks after your application was submitted saying that changes are needed to your submission, please log in to PaymentWorks and navigate to the “Connect” tab. There, you can see your application status as “returned” and the envelope icon next to it will have information about what changes are needed before resubmission. Or you can click the "Messages" tab and follow the instructions in the message.
I am a foreign individual and do not have a SSN, ITIN, EIN, or foreign tax ID number. What do I do?
Follow the steps below:
- Navigate to the Payee Support site.
- Click the "Contact Support" button in the top right corner to create a ticket.
- Request a "Placeholder ID" in your support ticket.
- After you receive the ID, complete the application.
I am already registered in PaymentWorks with another university or company. How can I link this to the SDSURF New Vendor Registration application?
Please contact your SDSURF requester to ensure that the New Vendor Registration request is being sent to the SAME EMAIL you used to register with for your previous registration. After the invitation has been sent, log in to PaymentWorks and navigate the "Connect" tab and click on "SDSU Research Foundation" to complete any missing information.
I am already registered in PaymentWorks with a different email address, but I got another invitation email. Who do I contact?
Please reach out to your SDSURF requester to let them know you are already registered with a different email address. IMPORTANT: Please do not validate the email address from the duplicate invitation. PaymentWorks uses email addresses to help verify identity.
If any of your information has changed since your initial registration, please log in to PaymentWorks and review/update any information that has changed.
I want to update my remittance (mailing address). Where do I go?
If you have recently moved or would otherwise like to change your remittance address, please follow the instructions below. Note: If you have moved permanently, please change BOTH addresses to ensure your tax forms are sent to the correct address in January.
Part 1– Remittance Address Update (where your physical checks are sent)
- Log in to PaymentWorks at https://www.paymentworks.com/accounts/login/
- Click “Company Profile” in the top right corner.
- Click “Remittance Addresses” on the left menu bar.
- Two Options:
- If updating the current address, click “Edit” (pencil icon) and update the address as needed.
- If you need to provide an additional remittance address to SDSURF, click "Create New Address.” For most customers, you will see a "Share With Customers" screen where you can select the customer(s) who should be provided with the new address. If you do not see the intended customer, please contact PaymentWorks Support for further assistance.
- Click “Save” to finalize the changes.
Part 2 - Primary Address / Corporate Address Update (where your 1099 or 1042 tax forms are sent)
NOTE: An updated W-9, W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E is needed with this update.
- Log into PaymentWorks at https://www.paymentworks.com/accounts/login/
- Click “Company Profile” in the top right corner.
- Click “Marketing Information” on the left menu bar.
- Click “Edit” and update the address as needed.
- Click “Save” to finalize the changes.
To upload a new tax form:
- Log into PaymentWorks at https://www.paymentworks.com/accounts/login/
- Click “Company Profile” in the top right corner.
- Click “Tax Forms” on the left menu bar.
- Click the “IRS Form” link to download a blank copy of the applicable form.
If the form listed is not the one you need please click one of the following links for a downloadable form:
W-9 or W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E. - Fill out the form completely and save it on your computer.
- Browse for the completed tax form on your computer and click "Upload."
I want to update my banking (direct deposit) information. Where do I go?
If your banking details have changed or you opened a new account, click HERE for instructions.
PLEASE NOTE: Direct deposit, also known as Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) or ACH, is only for U.S. banks.
I want to add banking (direct deposit) to my account. Where do I go?
If you previously signed up for check payments and would like direct deposit, click here for direct deposit instructions and log in to PaymentWorks.
PLEASE NOTE: Direct deposit, also known as Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) or ACH, is only for U.S. banks.
I recently changed my name / business name. How do I change this in PaymentWorks?
You can only change your name if your tax ID is the same. If your tax ID is the same and you need to change your name, click HERE for instructions. If you have a new tax ID, please have your SDSURF requester send a new invitation.
