Payroll
The Payroll department is responsible for managing SDSU Research Foundation’s payroll system and ensuring that employees are paid on time and accurately, while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and policies.
Functions include:
- Preparation of payroll checks
- Direct Deposit set up and changes
- Form W-2 preparation and requests for reprints
- Form 1042 preparation
- Form 1095-C preparation
- Determine payroll tax treatment for International students with Visa Status
- Process mandatory deductions (e.g., garnishments and bankruptcy withholdings)
- Taxation of moving expenses, vehicle usage and applicable tuition waivers
- Determine tax treatment for foreign national / non-resident alien employees
- Multi-state tax deposits and filings
- Federal tax deposits and filings
- Verification of employment
- Tax and labor law compliance and reporting
Payroll also handles the following services for SDSURF departments:
- Process payroll labor re-distributions
- Assist with payroll time sheet entry - Workforce
- Troubleshoot and reset passwords - Workforce
- Process emergency payment in the Banner system upon employee termination/retire
- Off cycle payroll adjustments
