Sponsored Research Development
The function of this office is to assist faculty and staff in the development and submission of proposals for sponsored research and educational projects. Under the direction of Steve Torok, it is the "pre-award" unit of the research foundation and the office faculty should contact once a sponsor has been identified and a proposal is being developed.
Sponsored research development staff can assist faculty with interpreting guidelines and sponsor submission requirements, contacting potential sponsors, preparing budgets, completing application forms, obtaining university approvals, electronic submission of proposals, facilitating compliance items, duplicating and mailing of proposals, and assisting with follow-up and other pre-award needs. Additional services are also available; faculty members are encouraged to contact Steve with requests for special assistance.
In fiscal year 2023, the office helped faculty submit 1,270 proposals to federal, state, local, corporate, and foundation sponsors. The 805 awards received amounted to over $192 million.
If you are preparing to submit a proposal, please call 594-5731 and one of our sponsored research development specialists will be available to assist you.
