Types of Funding
Sponsored research funds (generally grants and contracts) are often referred to as “5-ledger” funds. Information regarding what defines sponsored project funds can be found in the Project Administration Guide (PAG) - Types of Funds.
Campus and community program funds (or self-support funds) are often referred to as “9-ledger” funds. For more information please review the self support funds section in the PAG.
Designated funds (RSF and UGP) are often referred to as “2-ledger” funds and are allocations from the SDSURF general fund. For more information please review the RSF (Research Support Funds) section of the PAG.
The University Grants Program (UGP) is funded through the SDSU Provost’s Office, SDSURF, and the Adams Humanities Endowment. SDSU Division of Research Affairs administers the program and oversees funding provided by SDSU; SDSURF provides fiscal management for the funding provided by SDSURF. The Campanile Foundation Funds (gifts and donations) are often referred to as “C-ledger” funds. SDSURF is responsible for the fiscal administration of this funding. Find more information about Campanile Foundation Funds in the PAG and on The Campanile Foundation website.
