First Steps
Managing sponsored projects requires collaboration between the principal investigator (PI) and Sponsored Research Administration staff. When a new award is received, PIs will receive an email notification that includes the action items needed to set up the award and the name of the grant specialist who will be working with them during the life of the award.
The PI should take the initial steps of accepting signature authority and contacting his/her grant specialist in order to get started with spending. The Sponsored Research Development or pre-award office will set up a meeting with PIs to provide an introduction to post-award staff and an overview of the research foundation.
