Life Keeps Changing - Are You Prepared?
Keep your records current and be prepared for some of life’s changes by:
- Remembering the Rule of 31: With properly completed forms and proof, employees have 31 days from specific life changes to add or drop family members from their medical and/or dental plans. Otherwise, changes may be made during the annual Open Enrollment period held in November with an effective date of January 1. Don’t miss your opportunity! If you need assistance adding or removing family members from your Foundation insurance, please contact a benefits specialist at sdsurfbenefits@foundation.sdsu.edu.
- Verifying your emergency contact information on record with SDSURF is correct. Your information can be viewed and updated on Employee Gateway. We want to be able to reach you should critical events affect the University or the community.
- Knowing what to do in case of emergency at SDSU. Visit the SDSU Research Foundation Emergency Preparedness and SDSU Emergency Preparedness websites for a wealth of information related to preparing for and responding to an emergency at SDSU. The site also provides multiple resources that can assist you and your family in developing your own emergency response plans.
- Updating your beneficiaries. Many Foundation employees have group or individual life insurance plans, multiple retirement plans, and bank accounts. Make sure you review your beneficiaries on each annually. If you’d like to make changes that impact your benefit plans at the Foundation, please visit the bswift benefits portal available at Human Resources’ website. Return all Foundation forms to Human Resources, MC 1945, or you may fax them to HR's confidential fax number at 619-594-3763.
